Josh Borden

 
 


Josh Borden has been an athlete since he could walk and ride a bike. He played basketball, football, ran track and cross country through all of his school years and was Captain of the Varsity football, track and cross country teams in high school. His passion for extreme sports began at a young age. He has been an avid snowboarder his entire life and has years of experience wakeboarding and wakeskating. From these extreme sports he has suffered major injuries from multiple broken bones, shattered heels, torn ligaments and tendons, and a complete shoulder blow-out and dislocation. He has been through intense surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation. From these trials and tribulations he gained a wealth of knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body. He earned his BA from St. Edward's University here in Austin and his Personal Training education from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.


After college, Josh and his brother built their own real estate investment company from the ground up and were very successful. During his time in the real estate business he suffered a life changing shoulder injury that led him back to his passion, fitness and the human body. He had to re-learn how to use his right arm all over again and used the knowledge he gained from physical therapy and applied it to becoming a certified personal trainer.


Through his life, Josh learned how to communicate and understand people from all walks of life. Josh got back into weight lifting, sports, and began triathlon training until he found his niche in cycling. Josh races for the Austin Bikes cycling team and used his experience to become a Pure Cycling Instructor at Pure Austin, and eventually a Fitness Specialist. Although he is an endurance athlete, Josh's motivating training style consists of circuit weight training, core strengthening and conditioning, and plyometrics. Whether you want to lose fat, gain muscle, train sport-specific, or simply improve your health Josh will get you results. His workouts are motivating, creative, innovative, and most importantly -  challenging and fun!

Becoming a cyclist opened the door for me in many ways to the fitness industry. I specialize in instructing Spin Classes and Personal Training at Pure Austin Fitness. I believe strongly in keeping fit and healthy by working out and eating clean. Nutrition is key to a healthy lifestyle. I believe that true balance in life is obtained physically, mentally, and spiritually. I believe in motivating my clients, keeping them inspired by leading a healthy lifestyle, and providing a one of a kind experience in every workout!"
